French, Canadian and British Seven Years War Parade

As with the other parades, all figures are 15mm. The Blue Moon are larger than the Minifigs.

Bill’s Seven Year War French are on parade, along with some hussars and Swiss infantry that I acquired to assist them.

Here are Rick’s 96 Minifigs woodland Indians and 30 Blue Moon warriors. Along with them are my Minifigs and Blue Moon Candian militia, regulars, Indian villagers and colonial militia sneaking out of the woods.

And last, Rick’s British army. When fighting on the continent, Prussians and the colonials stand in for various colonial allies like Dutch, Hessians, etc. These are all Minifigs.

And that’s it for the parades for a while. I have to get off my duff and set up for tomorrow’s American Revolutionary game using Rebels & Patriots rules.

An Austrian Parade, Seven Years War

A request was made by FifteensAway for the Austrians to parade after he viewed the previous Seven Years War Parade. I asked the Fencibles who own our other SYW armies if they could be posted on parade and both agreed. This post features Rick Bowes’ Seven Years War Austrian Army, Maria Theresa’s own. Most of the figures are Minifigs. The column of cavalry on the far right of the photo is Old Glory15s cuirassiers that I bought and painted. We purchased our armies about the same time and they were all similar sizes. It struck me later that with anything like realistic rules the Allies needed to outnumber the Prussians. So I beefed up the Austrians and the French. Without further ado, Rick's army:

After taking these photos but before stashing the figures I realized that the Hungarian and Bavarian infantry (Old Glory15s) that I’d used to beef up the Allies were still in their boxes. The Bavarians routinely stand in for Reicharmee troops. Here they are.
The fellow on the left was either just hit or else is staggering home from a pub crawl.

Ah, I forgot the two stands of jagers. Too late now.

Next in the queue: Rick’s British and colonials, his 96 Indians, Bill’s French and my Canadian militia and colony regulars AKA troops de la Marine AKA Franche Companies.

A Seven Years War Parade

Folks seemed to like the AWI parade so much that here’s a 15mm Seven Years War parade. The Prussians, mostly Minifigs with some Freikorps (QRF) light infantry and Old Glory 15s hussars, are up first.

From front to back, the infantry are jagers, freikorps, converged grenadiers, infantry regiments followed by the newer fusilier regiments. The cavalry are led by cuirassiers, then dragoons and finally hussars. Yes, I know the grenadiers didn’t carry standards, but the packs came with standard bearers, so there they are.

Fencible Andrew quipped: Cry havoc and let slip the [small racing] dogs of war!

The Russians are mostly Old Glory 15s. They are stockier than Minifigs and slightly larger. The Cossacks are Minifigs. The infantry from front to back are grenadiers, musketeers without coats (the summer wear in Prussia) showing the red waistcoats, then musketeers in green coats who often stand in for the Observation Corps. The cavalry are Cossacks, cuirassiers and hussars.

I love a Parade

I don’t have a new army to show off. But I do have Crown and Rebel forces for the American Revolution that sat in boxes for a number of years. Recently they saw some action using Rebels and Patriots. I thought the Frying Pan & Blanket 20mm figures deserved their turn on the blog. With no further ado, here are the Crown forces.

Only now do I notice that the last Brunswick standard is laying on its side. Oh well.

And the Rebels/Patriots/Whigs:

Hmm, these mounted militia look like they need a touch-up. My painting has improved a little since these were done.
Half of the Continentals are in hunting shirts. They can stand in for militia when more are needed than are painted. The order of the units in the column after the 2nd Virginia is 2nd New Hampshire, 1st Maryland, Kirkwood’s Delaware in late war hunting shirts, 2nd Rhode Island, 3rd Connecticut and 1st Georgia.

They will see the table in skirmishes. I also hope to field some larger fights like Camden using either Post of Honour (work in progress SYW rules from Keith Flint/Honours of War) or modified Bloody Big Battles. Hey, maybe even stretch Rebels and Patriots to see if that will do.
